Singapore part 2

The weekend came and we had lots of time to be with Kyle (yippy!) We went to Sentosa Island on Saturday. By this point we were experts with the MRT or train/subway system in Singapore, so we opted to take the train to the island. The first thing we saw when we took step on the island was Krispy kremes. We be-lined straight there for some delicious doughnuts. Oh they were amazing, it's been too long since we have had a good doughnut.

We also walked past the neatest candy shop but strategically decided not to go in to prevent Abby and Kyle, the 2 candy junkies in the family, from loading up on sugar. Over all the island was filled with lots of artsy fartys stuff like statues, neat architecture, fun landscapes and fountains, and was very well kept.

Of course we had to check out the aquarium because we all love fishies! Both Abby and Connor were mesmerized the whole time. The fish were beautiful, colorful, and tropical. It's always interesting to see how the fish change from place to place and aquarium to aquarium.

After the aquarium we walked around Sentosa some more and found ourselves at the beach. The water was warm, the beaches were not crowded and they had splash pads right by the ocean. So we went back and forth from the ocean and splash pads. I could have stayed there all day, but once my pale and sleepy family had enough, we decided to leave and head back to our hotel.

The next day we felt rejuvenated for another long day of fun. We started it off by eating the most delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel. Let's just say it was pricy, but so worth it. Once we were stuffed we headed for the Bay Area of singapore to explore the gardens and super trees.

We went through the cloud walk and the first thing you see is a giant waterfall. Connor was so excited about this waterfall and would wiggle and laugh every time we would see it and get misted by it. Besides that we walked on these trails that were suspended in the air to simulate walking through the clouds. It was fun and beautiful to see all the flowers.

We decided to cool off at the splash pad right by the super trees. Now, this was the coolest splash pad we have visited yet! We spent a while there cooling off and having fun. Kyle and I even had a ton of fun that we decided we want a splash pad in our forever home. Not only did this splash pad have various spouts that would shoot out water, they were synchronized to different disney songs that played in the background. Water choreography.

We headed back to grab some food before heading off to the zoo for a night safari ride. We learned quickly that we can never leave a piece of Nutella cake in front of Abby because she just helped herself! Before we even knew what happened she had Nutella all over her face. We couldn't help but laugh. Since she helped herself to a piece, we ended up getting a second piece for kyle and myself to share. Nothing like feeding our 2 year old Nutella cake for dinner, live it up Abby :)
Time for the safari. We took the MRT train to the other side of Singapore where the zoo was located and doing so we got to see more of the country. We got to see where the Singaporean people live, and what type of housing they live in. Most of the people live in apartments. We saw hardly any homes. We also learned that you have to be very aggressive with public transportation. We missed our bus because we were walking and not running to the bus door. They must of thought that no one was waiting for that bus because we were not banging down the door. So, frustrated and in disbelief we ended up just flagging down a taxi to take us from the train stop to the zoo.

Even though the kids were exhausted they still had a great time. Well, Abby had a great time. Connor slept the whole time in his carrier which actually made it easier on me cause I didn't have to wrestle whim during the ride. The night safari gave us a fun perspective on the animals because most of the animals were more active at night.
The weekend came to an end meaning Kyle had to go back to work. We only had a couple days left in Singapore with Kyle because our hop back was Wednesday morning. We decided to take advantage of the night life in Singapore and visit the Bay Area again to witness the light show. The super trees were beautiful and the light show was fun. We also went on the flyer which is a giant Ferris wheel that over looks the whole city.

I have always been afraid of Ferris wheel from the time when I was about 10 and got stuck on this ferris wheel at a fair with my mom. The winds were picking up, we were swaying everywhere and the ride felt as if it was out together with bubble gum and shoe laces. The worker wouldn't let us off even though we were sobbing out of fear. I am happy to say that I overcame that fear and went on a ferris wheel again for the first time in over 15 years.

Singapore certainly was a beautiful city. We just so happened to be there as they we're celebrating their 50th anniversary of their independence. It's a city full of energy, and different cultures. We are glad we got to go exploring in Singapore and hope to visit again in the future.
